I view counseling as a collaborative relationship where we work together to get you on a path towards change and greater happiness. My own experience tells me we each have an inherent wisdom and creativity that is guiding our path to wellness and healing. Whether providing short term help for immediate concerns, or longer term therapy to address more chronic issues, my role as your therapist is to provide an accepting, safe and supportive environment where you can discover the signs within that are already pointing you in the right direction.

I have experience working with adults, children, teens, families and groups. In all my work, I value a client-centered approach with an emphasis on each person's unique strengths. When working with children or teens, I focus on a strong collaborative relationship with you as a parent while also building a trusting environment for your child. If you're looking for help with a challenging parenting concern, or, if your child or teen needs assistance, we will build on the strengths of you and your child, while also giving you a boost with some parenting tools designed to make your relationship with your child more effective.

My Professional Background

I am Licensed Professional Counselor and received my masters in counseling psychology from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. My bachelors degree is in cultural anthropology with a minor in women's studies from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have a longtime interest in the relationship between culture and gender, and served as the coordinator and lead therapist for the Southeast Asian Teen Village Program at the Journey Mental Health Center for 7 years. Other hobbies which inform my work include my experience leading girls empowerment classes in the greater Madison area and 16 years experience performing professionally as a musician.

I have served clients seeking help with issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, complex trauma, cultural issues, gender issues, relationship concerns, spirituality, attachment issues, and behavioral challenges in children. Some of the modalities that inform my work include cognitive/behavioral, interpersonal/relational, psychodynamic, family systems, developmental psychology, and play therapy. I hold special training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT).

Whatever your background or experience, we will work together to create an experience that is tailored to your unique interests and concerns.
