Thank you for checking out my profile! As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist I provide psychotherapy services for adults ages 18 and over from all backgrounds. Generally speaking, I aim to create a collaborative relationship with my clients, using the therapeutic relationship as an opportunity for guidance, feedback, insight building, and inherently corrective experiences with the ultimate goal of assisting you in creating the changes you desire in your life. Research repeatedly has demonstrated that your impression of the therapeutic alliance is the biggest predictor of satisfaction and success in therapy. I make it my goal that you experience a safe and supportive place to share your story and life experiences with me, whether we meet virtually or in the office.

While I have over 30 years of experience working primarily with adults coping with chronic and life- threatening illness, I also have a depth of experience helping individuals dealing with the result of various types of trauma, mood disorders, and relationship concerns, especially those in toxic and relationships. I put a high priority on working collaboratively with my clients, using an eclectic approach to therapy that borrows from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Energy Psychology practices including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Thought Field Therapy (TFT or Tapping). I also employ more intuitive approaches to my work including dream interpretation, inner child work, and journaling.

The techniques and approaches I recommend are based on your needs and preferences. The main impetus of my work is to help you identify growth edges, challenging patterns or life traps that are keeping you stuck, and to develop ways to reduce suffering and increase peace and contentment in your life. I come from a body, mind, and spirit perspective, attending to all aspects of your well-being with the aim of assisting you in living freely and creatively in a place of coherence between your inner self and its present engagement with your outer reality, which many refer to as “flow”.

My professional background includes a BA in Psychology in 1980 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1992. I completed my residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago in 1991. I then completed a postdoctoral Fellowship in Preventive Cardiology and continued as an assistant professor at Rush in 1991-93. I moved to Fond du Lac in 1993 and worked for St. Agnes Hospital Behavioral Health Services both in the outpatient setting and also as part of multidisciplinary teams for the Physical Rehabilitation Unit and Inpatient Palliative Care Services. For the past 8 years, I have also served as a supervisor for residents in the psychology Internship Program at the hospital, developing a track for Health Psychology and training residents for over half of that time. I am presently still at St. Agnes on a part-time basis until Fall of 2023.

I have recently joined Psychology Associates with the goal of developing a connection to the Madison area and enjoying a close-knit group practice with like-minded clinicians. I look forward to getting to know you and see how I might be of assistance in helping you in your process of personal exploration and transformation.
